Kent State Stark Writing Center

Engaged on Paper, Engaged in Life

How Can the Writing Center Help You?

The purpose of the Kent State Stark Writing Center is to assist you as you work towards the long-term goal of becoming a better writer. Our tutors can help you develop both the critical thinking and the rhetorical skills vital to being a strong writer, both here at the university and beyond. We can consult with you at any stage of the writing process on any writing assignment for any class. Among other things, we can help you with understanding your assignment and your audience; with brainstorming and shaping the focus or thesis of your paper; with planning and drafting; and with revising and improving your essay's development, organization, and clarity. We can also help you learn to use and document sources effectively, and to become a better editor of your own texts by enabling you to catch and correct your own sentence-level errors.

And it's all free! Make an appointment online or you can stop by any time we are open.
