About Emily
Emily is a licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Supervisor endorsement, or PCC-S. In 2003, she graduated from Kent State University with a B.A. in Psychology, and later in December 2007 graduated with her Master’s in Education in Community Counseling. She has recently completed an additional semester of doctoral level work in order to be a designated clinical supervisor in her field in order to assist and guide others to become proactive and ethical counselors in the state of Ohio. While attending school, Emily worked in the Kent State Department of Residence Services for 7 years and focused her attention on student success and wellness programming.

For the past 5 years, Emily worked at Coleman Professional Services in Portage County. She worked exclusively in the agency’s Access Office which is a 24-7 mental health crisis center and hotline hub. While there, she specialized in crisis intervention and suicide prevention. While at Coleman Professional Services, Emily was active with the Portage County Suicide Prevention Coalition and was also both certified in and a coordinator for the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), a training program for police officers and other first responders to enhance their skills with crisis intervention and working with mental health clients in crisis out in the community. Emily has presented twice at the state-wide All Ohio Counselors’ Conference and also twice at the National CIT conference on a variety of topics including crisis intervention, suicide prevention, officer safety, and community collaboration to support mental health recovery initiatives.

Emily has always kept close relationships with Kent State University and is thrilled to be back working directly with the student population.
