These programs have been approved for (business management and strategy) recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute. Certificate for Strategic Human Resource Management

The certificate consists of five days of training in the areas of performance management, talent planning and development and succession planning. After each program participants will leave with a plan and deliverables that relate to the individual needs of their organizations.

 

The programs below can be taken individually or as part of the certificate:

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP (DIANE DERUBERTIS, 2 DAYS)

Explore what an effective performance management system is, how it differs from the traditional performance appraisal system, why organizations transition to performance management and how to set up and transition your organization to a customized performance management system to help drive value for the company and its team. Participants will learn how to:           

  • incorporate the components of an effective performance management system into their organization
  • evaluate and redesign job descriptions to reflect a high performing organization
  • develop and implement enterprise-wide, core and leadership competencies
  • establish effective goal setting activities
  • conduct the performance conversation
  • create a timeline for implementing the system

 

TALENT PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP (DIANE DERUBERTIS, 2 DAYS)

Explore how to define the talent planning and development function and how to develop and implement the appropriate tools and processes for your organization. Participants will receive an overview talent management tools; processes to support an effective talent development program; the general timeline dedicated to the event; how to effectively deploy the tools to collect and analyze data; and, finally, the importance of maintaining talent development plans over time. In addition, participants will:

  • create a customized comprehensive enterprise-wide inventory of development activities
  • develop tools, including the individual employee profile, multi-box matrix to identify talent to evaluate talent pool
  • learn how to set up and conduct a Talent Round Table resulting in the completion of a comprehensive talent development plan at the enterprise, division, department and / or individual level

 

SUCCESSION PLANNING WORKSHOP (DIANE DERUBERTIS, 1 DAY)

Explore how succession planning differs from performance management and fits into the overall talent management system within an organization, types of succession plans and when to use them, how to develop talent pools, and the importance of maintaining succession plans over time. The session will also include a review of how to set up and conduct a Talent Round Table. The resultant complete succession plan will identify potential successors and readiness time lines. In addition, participants will receive an overview of the types of tools used to conduct a succession planning activity, the general timeline that should be dedicated to the event and how to effectively deploy the tools to collect and analyze data including:

  • critical roles and competencies identification worksheet
  • comprehensive successor talent profile
  • successor planning worksheet
  • 9 box matrix analysis
