The University Center "Work Ethic Matters" Scholarships


The University Center at Kent State Stark
Each year, more than 45,000 employees from as many as 145 companies participate in corporate meetings and events at Northeast Ohio’s premier conference center, The University Center. Accredited by the International Association of Conference Centers (IACC) and situated on the beautiful campus of Kent State University at Stark, the center is staffed with professional multimedia specialists, expert event planning coordinators and a skilled guest services and catering staff that guarantee outstanding support and services for corporate meetings, tradeshows, wedding receptions, fundraisers, holiday parties and more.
 
Recognizing that a strong work ethic is critical for student success, The University Center is awarding two scholarships to current Kent State Stark students:
  • "Work Ethic Matters" OFF-Campus Scholarship
  • "Work Ethic Matters" ON-Campus Scholarship


Application Deadline: March 1
Scholarship Amount: $2,000
Number of Awards: Varies
Renewable: No; but can reapply

"Work Ethic Matters" OFF-Campus Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average.
  • Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program.
  • Must be currently employed or employed within the last calendar year an average of eight (8) hours per week for a minimum of six (6) months at an off-campus job.
  • Must be registered for 12 credit hours each semester (fall and spring) in courses designated as Stark Campus courses.
  • $1,000 will be awarded for fall and $1,000 will be awarded for spring, provided the scholarship conditions continue to be met.

"Work Ethic Matters" ON-Campus Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average.
  • Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program.
  • Must be currently employed or employed within the last calendar year an average of eight (8) hours per week for a minimum of six (6) months as a Stark Campus student employee.
  • Preference will be given to The University Center and Emporium student employees.
  • Must be registered for 12 credit hours each semester (fall and spring) in courses designated as Stark Campus courses.
  • $1,000 will be awarded for fall and $1,000 will be awarded for spring, provided the scholarship conditions continue to be met.
