Theatre Auditions


General Audition Information for All Shows

  • Auditions are open to everyone including students and members of the community.
  • Those auditioning have the choice of working from sides (selected scene excerpts) or they may perform a prepared monologue. For musicals, audition information will be listed under the show.
  • Scripts and sides are available for perusal for periods up to 24 hours from the Fine Arts secretary. Stop by or call 330-244-5151 between 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Scripts and sides will also be available in the reserve area of the Stark Campus Library.
  • Audition appointments are recommended, but not required. Stop by or call 330-244-5151 to schedule an audition appointment with the Fine Arts secretary.
  • Technical production opportunities are also available, such as stage and assistant stage managers, assistants to lighting, scenic, sound and costume designers.
  • Roles available and any additional audition requirements will be listed under each show.

Our HouseOur House

An arrogant television executive faced with dwindling ratings hires America's favorite news anchor to host a popular reality show. Meanwhile, a TV addict with an unhealthy obsession for her teeters on the edge as tensions in his house rise and explode into a drama that holds the nation riveted. Filled with comedic satire, Our House examines a culture that is fascinated with transforming sobering crisis into sexy entertainment. For mature audiences only, due to violent content and strong language.

Rehearsals begin February 17 (after the opening of Cat's-Paw) and will occur five evenings a week until opening.

Roles:
4 males, 3 females, age range flexible

  • Jennifer - famous TV reporter and reality TV personality
  • Wes - ruthless TV network executive
  • Stu - Wes' network assistant who has an impossible job
  • Merv - TV addicted housemate, socially irresponsible and on the edge
  • Vince - Merv's housemate who tries to keep the peace
  • Alice - Merv's housemate who confronts him; direct and strong
  • Grigsby - Merv's housemate and medical professional, working too long hours, and trying to mediate the household

In Nicky Silver’s dramatic comedy, unrequited love threatens the marriage of golden couple Taylor and Cynthia. As his best friend and sister-in-law secretly pine after Taylor, each of their lives endures major changes, resulting from the choices they make. A tragedy tests the family loyalty of Cynthia’s sister, while Taylor’s best friend takes advantage of the opportunity as a means to fulfill his long-hidden desires. For mature audiences only, due to sexual content and strong language.

September 3 & 4 (Callbacks will be September 5, if needed)

Roles:
3 males, 2 females, ages range 20's through 40's

  • Paul - well mannered and articulate; yearns for what he cannot have
  • Taylor - Paul's best friend and Cynthia's husband; he's rather dashing which is a somewhat fragile facade
  • Cynthia - Taylor's wife; she has charm and graciousness that border on the edge
  • Libby - Cynthia's sister; high-strung, vulgar, direct and so very complicated
  • Andrew - a man Paul picks up at Bloomingdale's; he's conscientiously cheerful (this role also plays George and Art)

Cat's-PawCat's-Paw

This intense thriller examines the motives of an eco-terrorist through media reporting. Obsessed with the pollution of the world’s water supply, the mastermind behind deadly attacks on the EPA and the White House takes a hostage and grants a young journalist the interview of a lifetime. While justifying his actions on camera, a taut game of cat and mouse ensues, leading to a shocking and surprising conclusion. For mature audiences only, due to violent content and strong language.

November 19 & 21 (Callbacks will be November 22, if needed)

There may be a brief rehearsal period in mid-December (if possible) followed by a holiday break. Regular rehearsals begin on January 5 and will occur five evenings a week until opening.

Roles:
2 males, 2 females, age range flexible
  • Victor - strong minded and brilliant eco-terrorist devoted to saving the planet
  • Jessica Lyons - well known journalist with a nose for a story, and a match for Victor's tactics
  • David Darling - EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) official and Victor's hostage, which has taken its toll on his nerves
  • Cathy - a "soldier" in Victor's movement, trusting and idealistic
