2010 Staff Excellence Award Recipients Announced
Posted Apr. 19, 2010
On Friday, April 16, members of faculty, staff and administrators gathered in the Main Hall Auditorium to recognize the 2010 Staff and Administrator Excellence Award recipients.
Several weeks prior to the ceremony the campus community was asked to nominate a classified or non-classified employee with a written recommendation supporting the person they thought deserved to be recognized.
Interim Dean Dr. Ruth Capasso presented Terri Blasiman, clerical specialist for testing and tutoring, with the Staff Excellence Award.
Capasso read a highlight from one of the nominations, stating, “The respect that she gives everyone who comes to her desk reminds me why I like working here. I can't think of another person on this campus that deserves this award more. If we are judged by the company that we keep, I'm glad that I work with Terri Blasiman.”
Julie Spotts, web, e-communications and recruitment specialist, was presented with the Administrator Excellence Award.
A portion of a nomination read by Capasso stated that, “Julie is willing to do what it takes to get the job done right and knows when she needs to ask for assistance. She is an excellent communicator and works well with faculty, staff and administrators. Most recently, she was responsible for the campus website redesign and completed it before the deadline. In true overachiever fashion, she took a very overwhelming project with a tight deadline and found ways to condense the massive amounts of information into the Kent template.”
The recipients were awarded with a commemorative clock and a cash prize in recognition of the excellence they display in their jobs on a daily basis.
