Looking Ahead - Campus Projects for 2014

Sciences Building
Construction of the new Sciences Building, led by the architectural firm of BHDP of Columbus and Jeffrey Carr Construction of Massillon, will get underway early in 2014 and will be ready for classes in Fall 2015.  A new website has been established to view renderings of what will be a LEED Gold Certified building upon completion.   


Campus Signage

New campus signage is being planned to be added to some of the buildings.Lighted Kent State logo signs will be added to the exterior of Main Hall, Campus Center and Fine Arts. Temporary banners were hung on these buildings as a preview to what is to come.Kent State official “Gateway” signs were completed earlier at the Frank Avenue & Boulevard campus entrance and at the corners of University and Frank and University and Dressler Road.This project is part of proposed streetscape enhancements outlined in the campus Conceptual Master Plan that was unveiled in 2012.    


Library Improvements

Interior improvements to the Learning Resource Center will require the periodic closing of some areas of the building.Ceiling and lighting replacement, fire alarm upgrade and improved HVAC systems are slated for summer 2014.


Loop Road Re-route / Parking Lot Improvement Study

An engineering study is planned as the first phase of the eventual re-routing of Loop Road around the west side of the Recreation & Wellness Center and improved parking lot designs around Main Hall in anticipation of the completion of the new Sciences Building. This study will be conducted during 2014 and is the prelude to actual construction that will take place over the next few years.


Main Student Parking Lot to be Repaved

Student parking lot #101 will be repaved during summer 2014. 


Fine Arts HVAC Improvements
Energy savings improvements in the Fine Arts heating system will continue this coming summer in the north wing of this building.
